Annual Membership

Male annual ticket holders were admitted in 1896 and lady ticket holders were taken in the following year.
Lionel Munn and Francis Jameson were annual ticket holder when they each won the Irish Close Championship in the early part of the last century but played out of North West and Royal Dublin respectively.

They were followed by great lady golfers of the Island - Mabel Harrison, Janet Jackson and Patricia Jameson.  Mabel Harrison won the ladies’ Close Championship in successive years 1910,’11 and 1912, followed by Janet Jackson who won six titles in 1913, 1914, 1919, 1920, 1923 and 1925.  Her successful run was interrupted by the Great War which left her unbeaten from 1913 to 1921.

Following that last victory in 1925 Patricia Jameson won the title in 1926 which made it ten titles for Island ladies out of a possible thirteen.  Mrs J.B. Walker was the next Island lady to win the Championship and she went on to play in the first ever Curtis Cup.
